How to Share a Contract with Clients

Sharing contracts through the Client Portal provides secure access for clients to view and acknowledge agreements. Here's how:

Step 1: Open the Contract

Navigate to Contracts and click on the contract you want to share.

Step 2: Share Contract

On the contract details page, click "Share with Client".

What Happens When Sharing

When you share a contract:

  • The contract becomes visible in the Client Portal
  • An email notification is sent to the client (if email is configured)
  • The contract status changes to "Shared"
  • A timestamp is recorded for when it was shared
  • Client can view and download the contract file

Client Portal Access

Clients can access shared contracts by:

  • Logging into the Client Portal
  • Navigating to the Contracts section
  • Viewing and downloading the contract file
  • Acknowledging receipt of the contract

Revoking Share

If you need to revoke access:

  1. Open the contract
  2. Click "Revoke Share"
  3. The contract is removed from the client portal
  4. Client can no longer access it

Contract Acknowledgment

When clients acknowledge a contract:

  • Their acknowledgment is recorded with timestamp
  • Their IP address is logged
  • Contract status updates to "Acknowledged"
  • You receive notification of the acknowledgment

Requirements

Before sharing, ensure:

  • Contract file has been uploaded
  • Client has portal access (send portal link if needed)
  • Contract is in "Available" or "Draft" status

Share contracts before or alongside proposals to establish terms early. This helps set expectations and protects both parties.
